Summer

I hope that everyone is having a good start to the summer. In honor of the start of summer and of Irene's new gloves, I have switched around the colors of the blog.

I have signed the contract at William Jewell and we are looking for housing in Liberty Missouri - much more difficult than in Lawrence. I have been doing field work in exotic places such as northeastern Nebraksa. It was absolutely gorgeous there!!

I also have a decision to make - should my new computer be a Mac or a PC? Any suggestions? I definately want to get a laptop.

Hope all is well for everyone!

Love

Jennifer

I like the new look of the blog. Continued good luck with the search for a home in Liberty.

Ooh, more purple, yay! Never can have too much.

I never would have thought that northern Nebraska was so pretty. What kind of fieldwork are you doing there?

Kelly is working with one of the Indian Reservations there to survey the reservation to find locations of plants that the tribe traditionally used (i.e. for food, medicine, fibers, etc). One of his students (who is also Native American) is staying up there to interveiw the elders of the tribe. My job will be just to survey locations and record what plants are there. But I don't have to record all the plants, just those used by the tribe.

Love the new colors and am jealous of the Nebraksa work (but not the house hunting). Is there any way we can make the text wide again with the current color scheme?

Hmmm - I don't know. We would probably have to pick a new template or know something about HTML. My feelings would not be hurt if this gets changed again.

Hey Jennifer, I forget sometimes how open it is out there compared to where I'm from and where I am now. Also I wanted to comment on the computer question. I switched back to a mac 3 years ago and I haven't regretted it. It never slows down due to accumulation of viruses or anything...so nice. Also, the new macs are capable of running pc programs (if you set it up right). I know someone that has done this and as far as I know they haven't had any problems. However, switching to a mac can be a pain. If you really are more comfortable with a pc, stick with that. Good luck deciding.

I would like to switch to a Mac, but I am under the impression that when you try to run PC programs on them they are slow. Maybe this isn't the case anymore? I have been looking at Toshiba Satellite laptops in the mean time.
