One Week More Neurogenesis

How did the first week of the fitness challenge go? Swim well? Lots of steps? On-going pedometer woes?
Whatever the status, you need to comment (if only "made goal" or "didn't make goal") and keep in mind that we will ask again next week, so don't be idle.

I made my primary goal (number of steps), but did not meet my secondary goals of twice a week non-walking fitness (swimming, lifting, pilates, "ab work").
I'm taking considerably more steps than I was a few weeks ago, and I feel healthier already. That may be entirely in my head, but if I think I feel healthier, I do, don't I?

I only got my pedometer on Thursday. My goal is to hike twice a week, and now that I have the pedometer I'd like to do a certain number of steps on off days, as well. (Are we sharing the actual numbers?) So far I vary widely, doing only about 10% as many steps on non-hiking, tired-out days.
I'm actually getting a bit discouraged. I've been hiking twice a week for more than 3 weeks now and hikes still wipe me out for a couple days. Guess I need to keep at it. Seeing it written down actually makes me realize I'm being a bit impatient. 3 weeks isn't really that long, huh? I just want to be in better shape already!
How's everyone else doing?

I just ordered a new pedometer. It should be here this week. I've started walking to school and trying to take an extra walk in the afternoon or evening. I have also wanted to do more yoga, but that hasn't happened yet. I also wanted to stop drinking alcohol (because I have a glass of something a day, it prevents burning fat, and has a lot of calories). But being in dissertation-writing mode has made that hard. How do I turn off my brain???

I need to devise a better pedometer-anklet - yesterday I guess it was a little too loose and I almost lost the pedometer. So, today I'm leaving it home.

I'm usually meeting my daily step goal or close to it on weekdays, but not so much on weekends.

I met my goal of swimming 2 miles last week. Eventually I would like to get that up to 3 miles.

At the risk of pissing off the hard-at-work folks, this week I've been on vacation in Nova Scotia, and have managed to go running every single day (except today, when I went kayaking in the ocean). So, things are great as far as my goal is concerned... but I haven't really had a fair test since I haven't had to fit it in to all the other stuff I normally have to do. I just checked my e-mail today, and am already dreading my return. I just got my reviews back from the editor of Zootaxa. I am soooo sick of my dissertation! I don't want to make all the changes and corrections that the reviewers want me to make!! And it seems like really a lot of stuff to add... Also got e-mails from people wanting their specimens back (understandably). It sure is hard to fit in that stuff while working on the current job, though. Ug.

Didn't make any goal - lost the pedometer, then went on vacation, then got sick. New goal - get back into the swing of things Thursday (field on Wed. = sit on boat)
