Refreshing

Last semester, my classes and students on average pretty much sucked the life out of me, and definitely reduced my enthusiasm for teaching.

But this semester, my upper level Ecology class - they are AWESOME! All of them. Even the weakest student in there is good. They are infusing me with new enthusiasm. It's a nice change. I hope that I am up to the challenge!

I hear ya. I'm teaching a 400-level community ecology seminar and when I asked students to define the niche on the first day, their arguments (among themselves... I eventually had to shut them up) essentially covered the first 50 years of scientific literature on the subject. They are going to get so fired up about current debates in ecology--hope I'm up for that challenge!

I hope they continue to be inspiring! I think they are lucky to have you for a teacher!
