Stressed.

Sorry for the lack of postings. My life is rather busy at the moment. Two new preps including ecology and application for tenure in 13 days (not that I'm counting).

So to help my procrastination while editing, compiling and making things look pretty, I'd like a better plan than Facebook. I seem to need to check that way too much these days.

Can I get some stress relief ideas and/or productivity enhancement ideas?

Breathe. I'm serious with that. Laugh. Stretch.

No original ideas, but they work.

Good luck.

I always find that getting some exercise does wonders, it gives me time to sort out my thoughts and/or beat up on a soccer ball

Going for a walk often helps me sort through thoughts or problems, and can help me relax a bit. A less healthy but still effective option includes walking to an ice cream shop. Best of luck! You'll get through it!

Stress relief: I agree with breathing, laughing, stretching, and exercising. I would add: make sure you're finding time to give & receive plenty of physical contact - hugs, snuggles, back rubs, sex.

Productivity enhancement: that's a tough one, my only suggestions here are to reward yourself for progress (or even just for effort), and also to try to channel the procrastination urge to do other things that need to be done, i.e. if you find yourself procrastinating on writing a lecture, take a break and do laundry (or yoga or go for a walk with Gavin) instead.

I've been breathing, laughing and playing with the dog. I told Josh that we have to walk to the ice cream parlor in town over the weekend.

I'm pretty happy with the narrative at the point. But my future plans are a mess... :-) time to edit again after I figure out what I'm teaching tomorrow on terrestrial ecosystems.
