Book suggestions?

Hi friends, I hope that you are having a wonderful holiday season! I am looking for book suggestions-- I recently finished reading the Harry Potter books to my grandmother and she really loved them. Now I am looking for a new book or book series to read to her. She really seems to enjoy mysteries, detective stories, and history, but I'm open to most anything so long as it isn't too violent or R-rated. Any suggestions?

Many book bloggers I follow have been talking about Agatha Christie a lot recently. There's something about a classic mystery.
Are you familiar with Elizabeth Peter's Crocodile on the Sandbank series? Egyptian mysteries with an outspoken late-Victorian female protagonist. Good fun and they remind me of my grandfather because I recently read a copy that belonged to him.
I'm also fond of the Ladies No 1 Decective Agency series.
The Hobbit?
The Lloyd Alexander Book of Three series?

I was going to say Ladies No 1 Decective Agency. Hey - Butclan is my verification word!

Thanks for the suggestions! I think we're going to try either the Elizabeth Peter series or the Ladies No 1 first-- whichever is available in the library.

I liked the Lord Peter Wimsey mystery novels by Dorothy Sayers.
